More than just watching
Many students and pupils would like to complete an internship at a radiotherapy center for animals. In principle, this is possible at Equinox Healthcare and we are always happy to welcome friendly, sociable and inquisitive interns who would like to gain an insight into everyday practice. In addition to treating outpatients and inpatients, you will gain an insight into all aspects of radiation planning and also learn the basics of physics. Are you interested in an internship? Please send us an e-mail. As always, you can find more information on our website.
thank you for your interest in an internship at our facility. We offer internships all year round, both as an orientation internship for school pupils and for students in their practical year.
School interns (career-oriented internship) can apply to us for at least two weeks or veterinary students (compulsory internship in curative practice) for at least four weeks.
As a radiation therapy center, we are a very special facility and cannot provide an insight into the everyday life of a general veterinary practice, so we are not suitable as a first internship, for the small internship for students or as a first contact with veterinary medicine. Interns should already have relevant experience in this field. As a radiotherapy center, we can only offer internships for young people from the age of 16.
If you are interested in an internship, send us a complete application by e-mail. Let us know what kind of internship it is and when you would like to join us. We would like to know why you are interested in an internship with us. Let us know what interests you about the field of radiotherapy and what previous experience you already have in veterinary medicine. Once we have received your application, we will get in touch with you. During a telephone call, we can first clarify whether we still have free capacity for the desired period. You may receive a rejection, but this is by no means an assessment of you as a person, but often has internal reasons. We also expect your own motivation, sense of duty and a certain degree of independence as part of a school internship. So please also apply yourself.
During your internship, you will gain an insight into all areas of a unique radiotherapy center where all animals, from rabbits to cold-blooded animals, can be irradiated. You will be involved in every step of the treatment of our inpatients and outpatients. Depending on your level of knowledge and experience, you can assist with treatment and learn the basics of examining and treating tumor patients. Students can also play an active role in the team, particularly in areas relating to anesthesia, where they can learn or improve a wide range of practical skills. In addition to assisting with treatments, we want to give you an insight into the basics of radiotherapy, discuss tumor diseases and demonstrate radiation planning and practical implementation. Nevertheless, working with animals also harbors potential dangers from which we want to protect you as best we can. Depending on your level of knowledge and experience, we will integrate you into our work process, so you should bring suitable and safe clothing. Your own safety shoes are an absolute prerequisite for an internship with us.
We would like you to be interested in working with animals, treatment and dealing with them. You should also be interested in radiation therapy. Initial experience in the field of veterinary medicine is useful and usually a prerequisite. In addition to a friendly demeanor towards us and owners, we would like you to wear appropriate work clothing for small and large animals.
We are a small and motivated team and our interns are integrated from day one. We therefore welcome applicants who are open-minded and curious. Questions are welcome and can be asked at any time.
